Bugstiary Adventure Seeds: Gold-Digging Ant and Ant-Lion

The Bugstiary, written by me, and published by Gaming Ballistic for the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game (Powered by GURPS) is a bestiary supplement to The Nordlond Bestiary and Enemies Book, that contains 34 new arthropod monster entries for the DFRPG.

In this series of posts, I'm going to give one or two adventure seeds for each monster entry in The Bugstiary.

Ant, Gold-Digging (p. 4)

Formica Grail The jarl of Hrafnabjörg has fallen ill with a mysterious ailment that resists both magical and mundane healing. The temple of the Lady-of-Life in Kaldran has dispatched a powerful healing cauldron (that, of course, is made of gold) and hired the PCs as escorts. Everything goes fairly smoothly, barring a few river and road encounters, until one night, in the Vesterham foothills, the artifact goes missing. It becomes apparent that the thief was either very good or very small. The probable culprits are eventually revealed when one of the adventurers finds a big furry ant rooting in their pack. The locals will confirm that such ants come down the mountains to steal gold. Tracking the thieves to their hill reveals the holy cauldron sitting on top of a mound of gold nuggets. Now, just how to get it safely?

Ant-Lion, Giant (p. 5)

The Danger Garden of Loftur Úlfhéðinsson The mad druid, Loftur, is probably dead. He's probably been dead for decades. His sacred grove, is therefore, probably laying untended. Delvers might want to claim the reward offered by the druid circles for reclaiming it, or need some critical information or artifact Loftur was hoarding, or just seek to loot his cabin. Unfortunately the man was a paranoid misanthropist and his grove is defended by a network of living traps. This includes a breeding ground for giant ant-lions whose hidden pits sit between the sapper trees, shocking sallows. and thorn thickets (Garden of Evil pp. 13-14, 16).
